Mr3. L. Fischer is again able
to attend to her store after an
illness, which incapicitated her
from her business several days
of last week.
Mr. Milncr,,who spelled R. B.
Bell while the latter was on his
vacation last month, fished and
spent a time with friends in
East Maupin last week. ;

Monday and went to The Dalles
for medical treatment.

ley fir are being taken by F. C.
' Butler and A. A. Bonney lor the
purpose of forming a corporation to
buy a permanent fair grounds. , A
meeting of'the stockholders has been
called for June 17, at 1 o'ekx-k at
Tygh Valley.
allie Duncan , of Wamic, whi!e
at work at Mulvaney & Sons' will,
had his leg badly bruised last Tues
day. The accident occured when
a lumber cart was Bpt and thrown
upon him.
"Susan's Home" is the name of
a littla city-to-be, located about six
miles west of Waplnitia. It con
sistes of a couple ef dwellings, a
school house and a tent It is ex
pected that in the course of 30 of
40 days water wil reach the flat
through a large irrigation ditch now
nearing completion at Susan's home.
J. R. Woodcock was asessing the
people of Smock Tuesday. This
completes his territory and he goes
to The Dalles with the assessment
books on Wednesday.
Last Sunday Maupin defeated the
Maroons at Dufur by a score of 12
to 10. Next Sunday Gateway cones
here for a game. Games scheldaled
so far are: June 11, Gateway at
Maupin; June 18, Mord at Moro;
June 25, Dufur at Maupin.
The Criterion correspondent to
