Gail Erisley and Jim Nelson of Dufur were in Maupin Monday evening on business matters. Anton Seifert spent several days of this week at The Dalles attending to business matters. Jno. McCorkle made one of his periodical trips to town from his Juniper Hat ranch, on Monday. Chris Poison, old-settler of Tygh Valley , was transacting business in Maupin on Monday. Miss Jean Wilson is visiting with relatives in Portland. She expects to be there two weeks. Tom Connolly, one of our lead ing theepmen, was in from his Bakeoven ranch Monday morn ing. ' Estel Stovall , assisted the Plyler orchestra with his drums at the dance at Grass Valley last Saturday night. - Zenus Watkins tore himself away from his Tygh Valley busi ness long 'enough on Monday to pay a visit to Maupin. Lee Jackson, late meat dealer at Tygh,. but who is moving from that place to The Dalles, was a visitor in Maupin on Mon day. , - '. L. V. Broughton and wife, and the tetter's father, Philip Gro shaw, went to The Dalles Mon day, going there for the purpose of taking Mr. Groshav to a physician. EAST MAUPIN NEWS Mr3. L. D. Kelly and daughter, Doris, left for Portland on Mon day morning for the purpose of attending the fenerd of A. B. Manley. Mr3. L. Fischer is again able to attend to her store after an illness, which incapicitated her from her business several days of last week. Mr. Milncr,,who spelled R. B. The accident occured when a lumber cart was Bpt and thrown upon him. "Susan's Home" is the name of a littla city-to-be, located about six miles west of Waplnitia. It con sistes of a couple ef dwellings, a school house and a tent It is ex pected that in the course of 30 of 40 days water wil reach the flat through a large irrigation ditch now nearing completion at Susan's home. J. R. Woodcock was asessing the people of Smock Tuesday. This completes his territory and he goes to The Dalles with the assessment books on Wednesday. Last Sunday Maupin defeated the Maroons at Dufur by a score of 12 to 10. Next Sunday Gateway cones here for a game. Games scheldaled so far are: June 11, Gateway at Maupin; June 18, Mord at Moro; June 25, Dufur at Maupin. The Criterion correspondent to the Times says that as the J. B.
