VOTE OUT FAMFHELETS
.... i; ;
The Potter mil, auoiiMuuB ,
dates" pnmphets, came up in the state
House last Thursday ana passea oy .

Senate committee and it is expected
will pars that body.
The bill calls for the abolishment
o a useless and expensive class of ad
vertising. Heretofore the state has
stood the expense of publishing and
circulating pamphlts containing can
didates platforms, the expense Tun
ing into thousands of dollars. .
Uuder the proposed bill those who
ere running for office and who de
sire voters to know how they stand
on measures will have .to patronize
the newsapers for such purpose.
There can only be a certain number
of candidates elected and,' of course,
many more defeated, and all this un
nessary propaganda adds to the elec
tion expenses of the state and rightly
should be don away with.
. Senator Joseph seems to have
forgotten the result of the last elec
tion when the hydro-electric mea
sure was voted down by nearly four
to one, as he has introduced a bill in
the state senate authorizing the
state to go into the construction of
power plants. The' senator is
honest enough to confess he does not
know what his bill is about. If that
is the case we believe his constitu
ents made a mistake in sending him
to represent them in the state sen
ate. A man in that position should
at least realize what his measures
stand for and the purpose of their
introduction.
