Wilson and daughter, Jean, returned from a visit at Port land on Friday last. Itev. W. A. Mathews and Wm Drake were in from Simnuuho on hudncss last Saturday. Phil McCorklc and wife were in form the ranch Monday, transacting business with our merchants. o Dr. Lawrence Stovall was an in terested spectator at the football jramu at Portland last Thursday. 0 It. P. Newland, superintendent of Maintenance on Stale Roads,' was in Maupin a (short time last Saturday. Mrs. Julius Shepflin has so far re covered from her recent illness as to bo able to come to Maupin Monday. Mrs. Carl Dahl visited with friends in Maupin Sunday, coming from tho Badger Creek ranch near Tygh Val ley. Hugh Knight and Frank Sinclair, two denizens of the Criterion sec tion, were in Maupin on business Tuesday. Mrs Clarence Ziggonhngon return ed home Wednesday, after spending two weeks with friends nt Toppenish, , Washington. Jack Morrow returned to Maupin Monday after several days spent in The Dalles having his wounded fin er attended to. Miss Alberline Hachler paid a short visit to friends in Maupin yes terday, coming in from her father's ranch on the Flat. o Cleo Kinser, nephew of Mrs. Gus Derthick, with Cliff Harball, both of Salem, visited with tho Derthick family last Sunday. George Morris and family motored to Tho Dalles last Sunday and took in the sights of that hustling village during the afternoon. Misses Enright and Tillotson visited in The Dalles Sunday after noon, taking Miss McCorkle, who is teaching in The Dalles, with them. Lester Kelly and Verne Fischer were in Antelope Monday, going there to vote on the proposed road link joining the highway at Clarno. Elias Kilen, a member of the state Industrial Accident commission, was in Maupn on business connected with that department a couple of deys the first of tho week. Ira Kistner is again following a trap line, and will continue at that employment all winter. East Maupin, with Criterion and Ridgeway, was well represented at the polls at Antelope on Monday. East Maupin ladies are busy this week sewing for the U. B. bazaar, to be held at Legion hall December 10. The W. II. Williams residence has made another move, this time farther up the hill. EAST MAUPIN NEWS , Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brown were at Tho Dalles on Monday. . Chester Crabtree has joined tho Bachelors club and will remain on this side a weeck. Jack Weiss, herder at the Trout man ranch, was in East Maupin a few days this week. Completed Road Job. Morris Greene completed his last contract on the Wapinitia cutoff last Thursday and brought his equip ment to town the same day.
