The cattlemen started Tuesday morning to gather beef cattle to ship to the Portland market the last of the week. ; The C- E. society held a busi ness meeting at the parsonage rnday evening. The meeting was turned into a social affair after business wa3 disposed of. Evadne Hulburd and Ruby Powell were elected to represent the local C. E. society at the Vancouver convention, June 18-19-20. , About 30 were piesent at the meeting. Baccalaureate services for the graduating class were held at the church Sunday night with W. A. Mathews of Simnasho as speaker. Rev. Mathews de livered an interesting and inspir ing sermon on the text "How to Li ve. " A large crowd was in at tendance. Commencement exercises were held Wednesday evening when four graduates received diplomas. The speaker of the evening was Prof. Thomas H. Gentle of the Normal School. ' The students given diplomas were Anne West, Mary O'Brien, Roy Woodside and Crystal Hartman. A number of persons from here attended the meeting at the Kelly cemetery Saturday. The cemetery was cleaned and the fence repaired. A new fence will be erected as soon as pos sible. - Crystal Hartman who has been very ill is convalescing. Thp Wapinitia schools are plan ning for a big picinic at Bear Springs Friday, May 28. E. A. Hartman is the pleased possessor of a new Dodge sedan. Ollie Paquette is in The Dalles hospital suffering with infection of his left foot. Rev. and Mrs. Mershon attend ed the group Sunday school con vention at Shadybrook Sunday afternoon.
