Mr. and Mrs- Geo. Smith and little daughter made a trip into the mountains Tuesday. Earl Birchard and family are moving onto W. A. Dane's place, formerly the old Weber place. Little Betty Nell Smith has had chickenpox the past week. Mrs. H. V. Retherford and children and Mrs. W. 0. Wiison made a trip to Maupin Tuesday, calling on Mrs. Van Laanen and Mrs. Batty. Mrs. Joe Batty and Buddy are visiting at the Frank Batty home this week. U. S. Endersby was painfully bruised last Thursday by a head- erbed overturning with him. Mr. and Mrs. Don"Bridgefarm- er and children who have been spending their vacation at the home of Mrs. Bridgefarmer's sister, Mrs. Ben Gabel, returned to their home in Portland last week, Mrs. Julius , Shipflin made trip to Maupin Wednesday. They will remain all week. J. K. Woodcock ot Wamic is visiting in the Duncan and Wood cock home for a few days. Mrs. Will . Woodcock and her daughter Carmel of Wamic came Sunday to assist Mrs.'H. E Woodcock and Lenore with the cooking through threshing. Orrion Farlow went to The Dalles Sunday, returning Mon day with a herder and a man to helrl with threshing. Mrs. Jessiline ' Morrison and daughter came out on Friday evening to spend the week end with her mother and sister, Mrs. E. II; Disbsow and MissMelvina. Thev returned to Maupin Sun' day evening. Miss Ioiia Feltch and her mother returned to Smock Sun day after a year's absence in Colorado and California. They seem much improved in health. G- W. Bargenholt has been quite poorly the last few days. His daughter, Mrs Smith, took lim to The Dalles Monday even ing where he will receive medi cal attention. Wamic News Percy Driver and George Craw ford were business visitors in The Dalles recently. Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Webb were in The Da es Tuesdav from Maupin. - Mr. and Mrs. Belvie Patison returned last week from Kanier Park where they had their va cation from The Dalles. Mrs. Matie Patison was a Dalles visitor from the J. A. Abbott home on Juniper Monday remaining till Thursday at the home of Mrs. Margaret Holcolm. Mrs. J. L. El wood went from The Dalles to Spokane for her vacation . C. S. McCorkle and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Hurtig returned last week from the Yellowstone park Mr. and Mrs. Hurtig went on to Portland. C. S. McCorkle and J. R. Woodcock went to The Dalles Tuesday. I Mrs. II. C. Dake from Port land is visiting at the A. E. Lake home. Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Chastain spent last week in The Dalles with Mrs. Chastain's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Chastain left for Marshfield Saturday. Marion, Orrion and Willis Far low were Dalles visitors Thurs day from Smock. Mr. and Mrs. Liberty Chastain were in The Dalles Saturday. Roy Jones and family visited his mother and sister in The Dalles last week, from California Mrs. Jones of The Dalles accom panied them home. Mrs. Annie Byrd and children who visited Mrs. Frankie Palma teer last week has returned to Friend. Clifford Palmateer took them home. Alfred Njs was here the form er part of last week from Kings ley. The two small daughters of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ed Craft have been taken from Dufur to the children's home at Corvallis. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Welch were in The Dalles Wednesday. Clair Norval met with an acci dent at Tygh Valley when a gun was dropped by a companion and discharged, the bullet pass ed through one of Clair's legs and lodged in the thigh of the of the other leg. Dr. Griffith extracted the bullet. Threshing is pretty well over here. The grain is turning out pretty well, considering the drouth. The Misses Bessie and Doris Bonney wore Dufur visitors last week from Tygh Valley. Mr. and Mrs. A. A.
