Last Wednesday evening while splitting wood Mrs. John Boen had the misfortune to nearly sever the fore finger of her left hand. Mr. Keen took her to Maupin in his car arid Dr. Elwood dressed the injury. Alpha Hack -ler is staying with Mrs. Boen now helping with the care of the children. The little folks at George Heitz have the measles. Mrs. Gotheb Teschner is very ill. Dr. Elwood has made sever al trips up to care for her this week'. Mrs. Melvy Magill is the nurse in charge. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert McCoy have gone to Wamic for a few days where Mr. McCoy will plow for Mr. Driver. Mrs. Bevel and baby Doran of Portland are visiting atthe De Lore and Sturgis homes. Vera Magill is here visiting her mother. Many of the young folks en ioved Saturdav evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Dodge at dancing. Mr. and Mrs. Wm Sturgis and Mrs. Ober were Maupin visitors Saturday. L. D. Woodside, Mr. and Mrs Georee Bunnside, Cal Burnside and the Parker family were in Maupin Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Wm Sturgis and children visited Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Abbott Sunday. Mrs. Anna Smith, spent Sun day with her daughters Mrs. Gutzler and Gladys Smith. John Dunlavy came up from Brooks and stayed over Wednes day of last week with his sister Mrs. E. A. Hariman. On Thurs day they and Ernest Ilartman went to Shaniko to look after business interests. The Richmonds were up from Maupin Sunday for church ser vices. They were dinner guests at J. M. Powells. Mrs. Chas. Lewis is expected home Fortland Saturday. Mrs. L M. Woodside left Fri day for Woodburn for a visit with her parents. There is to be a family reunion at the old ffrr i.o. o. F. Lake house in Maupin. Sheriff Chrisman was here Thursday. Mrs. Mabel Stogsdill spent several days in The Dalles last week at the H. M. Hilts home. With the Kilts family she visited Mr. and Mrs. Tim Beaty in Hood River Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Driver and Lenore Woodcock went to Gresham Sunday to get Mrs, Jessie Woodcock and two child ren who were visiting at the Al Griffi's home. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Welch and baby Leo, were guests at the A. M. Patison home Friday night. .Tim Kennedv has a radio in his home. Percy Driver went to Maupin hursday for oil. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. A ball game between Maupin and Wapini&ia was played Friday Maupin team was victorius. Ralph Woodside went to work Monday for his brother Louis. Bill Williams transacted legal business here Saturday. Al Daniels was down Monday from Sunllovver flat. Ihe high school students gave a birthday party Monday night for Mr. Pease at the Burnside home. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Flinn came over irom vvarmsprings last week. Mr. Flinn returned to the agency Saturday but h wife remained for a visit with her mother Mrs. Alice Chappie, Mrs. Geo. Claymicr is very ill. Mrs. Wilson is staying with her during her illness. D. W. Sharpe and family visit ed with the Burnsides Sunday Lincoln Ilartman made a trip to The Dalles Wednesday and re turned Thursday in a new Ford which he had purchased. On the back of the envelope is a picture of a garden collec tion which surely looks inviting. Friends here will remember that during Mr. and Mrs. Oakley's residence here a few years, their garden was a vesy practical demonstration, as do the pro ducts of the peach and apricot trees on L.C Ilenncghan's prop erty prove excellent selection. Root is visiting his daugh ters on Smock. He returned from Los Angeles much improv d in health. Mrs. Cora Foster and Elnora motored out from The Dalles on Saturday a m. to see the home folks returning on Sunday morn ing. Mrs. Edith Hill and child ren accompanied her back for a few days visit with her mother Mrs. Large. J. M. Farlow made a trip to The Dalles Saturday bringing out two men to work for him. Clifford Cervin and wife are employed by George Crawford and are living on the Fowler Iplace. J. E. Woodcock went to Wamic Tuesday evening to meet his wife and children who are return ing from a months visit with her (parents F. M. Driver and wife her daughter Lertore and other relatives at Hood River. Marion and Callie Duncan and wives were. Sunday visitors at the parental home Mr. Chas. Duncan. Willis Farlow was hurt badly Saturday by a mule kicking him on the arm. fortunately no bones were broken. Stick to the tractor Willis, it is safer. Mrs. Arnett south of Wapini tia spent the week visiting ner daughter Mrs. Bessie Mayfield. Her husband came- for her on Saturday when she returned home.
