All are enthusiastic and this promises to be the best year yet. We are hoping to carry off all the prizes at the fair. Jake Teschner has recovered from his recent sickness and took the Simnasho mail again this week. Ed Beebe is here visiting rela tives. , Sad news was received here Tuesday by Mrs. E. A. Hartman announcing the death of her fteer, Geo. Dunlavy who passed away that morning at the home of his son John Dunlavy. Mr. Dunlavy was a pioneer and came to Oregon by way of wagon and ox team. Ae was a member of the Masonic lodge and was well and favorably known here, and had made his home at Shaniko for a number of years. He was striken with paralysis March 7, 1921, and never fully recovered the right use of himself after ward. He is survived by one son and one daughter. Inter ment will be Saturday near Sil verton beside his wife. Hauser was a visit or in The Dalles last week from Tygh Valley. Willis Norval was a Dalles vis itor from Tygh Thursday. Jack Robert Brittain has a bank savings account on accumu ations of pennies ana amies given to him up to his first birth day anniversary. His mother thought the amount was suffic ient for a savings account and placed it in a bank. Intablet form if desired Call or Phone Main 231 The MauDin Times Obituary Roy Walter Shively, the eldest child of John and Nettie Shively was born near Weston, Umatilla county, Oregon, June 14, 1305; departed this life at Wamic, Ore- iron. January 23, 1924, having reached the age of 18 years, months and 9 days. He lived in Marion county until 8 years pld. His parents then moved to Griz- zley, Jefferson county, wiiere they , lived for 4 years, bince 1919 the family have made their home in Wamic. Last year he attened Tygh Valley high school and was in Shaniko high school the first part of this school year Recently he had been employed in the logging camp near his old home in Jefferson county. While at home for a visit he was taken sick January 13th; after ten days this illness proved fatal. Besides his parents Roy is sur vived by the following brothers and sisters: Thomas 14, Laura 12, Everett.8,and Elvena 6, He was a young man of excellent moral and temp erase habits and hic-hlv esteemed by all who knew him.
