Wamic News Mrs. Veva Driver and Miss Francis Svogsdill returned to Portland Monday accompanied by Mrr. J. E. and Lucile Ken nedy. Maud Sehrum accompa nied them to The Dalles. Mr. and Mrs. Willie Norval visited with Vernie Norval and wife in The Dalles Monday and Tuesday. They stayed over night in Dufur on their return, being delayed by the storm. Yard Norval and family went to St. Helens to visit Marion Burlingame and family and will go on to the coast. Jack Fraley and family of Kingsley visited Sunday at the Willis Norval home in Tygh. The Driver-Harvey thresher finished their season's run Tues dav noon on the A. M. Patison place. Dr. Elwood was called again Thursday to see 'Clifford Palma teer. Claybourn and Andy Booth came up from Estacada Thurs day. Andy Bails and family left Saturday for California where they will spend the winter. Frank Magill and family ana C S. McCorkle and Florence went to the Summit house Sat urday for a week's stay. Percy Driver went to Maupin Thursday. W. E. Woodcock and daughter Carmel were Maupin visitors Friday. The Wing-Tillotson thresher finished their run Friday at the Pierce Mays place in Tygh. Mrs. Emma Hayward left Sat urday for Hood River. Dorathy Martin came from Dufur Sunday, the guest of Mrs. Husty Johnson. Claybourn and Dick Palmateer went to The Dalles Saturday. A. E. Lake is walking with crutches for an attack of rheu matism in his knee. The many friends of A. M. Grimes were sadened by the news of his death. Funeral ser vices were held in The Dalles Saturday and burial in the I- O. 0. F. cemetery. Mr. Grimes was an active citizen while a resident of Tvgh before going to The Dalles and did much to help the.school there. He had been ill almost all winter, but hopes for his recovery were en tertained by his family and phy sicians. He had been a long resident of the county and had many friends. Mr. and Mrs, Haavev McLain attended the funeral from Tygh Valley. Cecil Woodcock came over from Maupin Sunday. Mrs. H F. returned with him after s week at the A. E. Lake home. Parties returning from the mountains report a scrcity of huckleberries this summer. The farmers are busy sowing their grain and hauling off the present crop. The Sunday School picnic at White river bridge last Sunday was well attended by Pine Grove The Smock delegation was small Mr. Smith ot The Dalles was there in the interest of the American Union Sunday School literature.
