Miss Katherine Clemmens came up from Portland Tuesday and is the guest of Miss Hazel Johnson. J. R. Woodcock went to Mau pin Sunday for medicine for Mrs W. E. Woodcock. Little Loyal Pratt returned to Maupin Sunday with his parauts Mrs. Luna Savage went to Mau pin with them. E. C. Pratt came over from Maupin Saturday with Dr. El wood. Prof. J. R. Ward and family came over from Dryad, Wn., Friday. Mr. and Mrs. H. F. and Cecil Woodcock visited at the A. E. Lake home Friday from Maupin, Mr. and Mrs. Frank French and Little Margaret are here from The Dalles at the Ernest Gesh home. They came Thursday A crowd from here attended the show and dance at Tygh Val ley Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Prout and Leona Zumwalt have gone from Huntington to Bend. The Fair board held a meeting in Tygh Valley Sunday. The fair will be held September 18, 19 and 20. C. W. Daigh and C. L. Hazen were present from The Dalles, J. E. Kennedy and P. B. Driver from hero and J. E. E. Woodcock from Smock. Raymond Doering and Alfred McCorkle and their families went to the mountains Sunday for an outing. Fred .Miller, Fred Kennison, the Misses Ivy Mulvanv, Zeta and Zeld Watkins went to tne Mulvany home from Tygh Sat urday. Miss Betty Powell returned to The Dalles Thursday after a few days' stay at the Frank Magill home. We had very warm weather here Saturday and Sunday, the temperature getting up to 90. Criterion News Harry Skinner and son George of The Dalles are visiting friends here this week. From here they expect to go to Los Angeles, Cal. to visit a sister of Mr. Skinner. , Tommy Moss went to The Dalles Monday to have his eye treated. J. G. Kramer is running a full crew this week. He got four new men Friday from Maupin. Alma Hall is cooking at Otto Herrling's this week. Lester is working for Hollis & Troutman. Ethel Kidder is visiting friends in Maupin. Bert Appling is threshing for Tom Moss, havjng finished his harvest Monday. Dave Wilson moved his machine to the Singer place Monday. Henry Kramer and John Gros may of Tygh spent a few days at the Kramer place stacking hay. H. C. Dunning of Portland spent a few days at his ranch here last week. Several of the boys enjoyed a swim Sunday in the pool on Deep creek. Smock News John Cervin had the misfor tune to be kicked by a horse last Wednesday and his leg was broken. Dr. Elwood reduced the fracture and. he is getting along as well as could be expect ed. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Tom Farlow, a girl, on the 39th ult. They formerly lived here, but now reside at White Salmon. Mrs. Margie Ledford returned from White Salmon where .she had Ijwii' visiting Walter and Hazel for a month. n.W. Morgan lias f:old his property and moved to While Salmon with his invalid wife. Mrs. Mac Mayfield was quite ill Sunday but is better. . Roy Foster and family are up in the mountains for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. S. (j. Ledford made a business trip to Maupin Monday. Clifford Cervin spent last week in Washinton and brought home a bride. They will live near Wamic. A picnic is being talked of by the two Sunday Schools, Pine Grove and Smock to be held at the upper White river bridge August 2Gth. Details later. Threshing on Smock started at Marion Farlow 's Tuesday morning. P. P. llasslcr, a newspaper man from Salem was a Maupin visitor Tuesday afternoon.
