Flinn was over from Simnasho on business last week. Mr. and Mrs. Keen have moved from St. Johns' to Pine Grove Lee and Hazel Laughlin are visiting with their aunt Mrs. Joe Graham. Fred Magill sheared sheep for Frank Batty last week. Itoy Woodside left Sunday for Corvallis to take a summer short course. Mrs. P. W. Lloyd visited at 0' Briens on Sunday. Dr. Downs and family of Port land are visiting at the Frank Batty home. Rev. Parker has been confined to his home with h severe case of tonsilitis. Everybody was rejoiced Satur day night because of the rain. There was a water meeting Saturday. A number of farm ers were present. One item of great importance was decided. It was voted that the farmers unite with the company next fall in building sufficient spill waySj to protect the camd. One day this week was set a part as in spection day. Bill Maynard has been hauling wood for Perle Evick. Dee and Loyd Woodside have been occupied the last week painting the buildings on the place where Wm. Sturgiss lives. Chester Rice left for the moun tains Saturday where he will work for Mr. Graham. N. G. Hedin attended the County Sunday School Conven tion at Mosier last Wednesday. There were 135 delegates present and a very interesting and help ful program was rendered. Pine Grove Sunday School won the Banner. An invitation was ex tended for the Convention to meet at Wapinitia next year. Cal Burnside made a trip to The Dalles Wednesday where he purchased a new fliver. Perle Evick and family left Monday for the Valley. They will visit the Rose Festival and go on to Corvallis to visit Mrs. Evicks children. From there they will go to Seaside. Mrs. Julia Endersby has also gone to Portland to take in the Festival and visit relatives. Lou McCoy expects to go to Dufur again the last of the week when he will nave his tonsils removed. Shearing began at Abbotts heap camp last week, that ac counts for the rain. George Magill of Wamic was here Monday when he purchased hogs of E. A. Hartman and John Eubanks. He expected to take them to The Dalles for marketing Richmonds hauled 2 truck loads of powder up to the mountains Monday for Joe Graham. Crystal Hartman visited Anna West last Friday. Ed Davis and family were in Wap. Monday getting supplies, Mrs. Calvin MeCorkle had the misfortune to upset her coffee one morning recently and badly scalded her left foot. C. J. MeCorkle and son Irvine were in The Dalles Monday. Dee Woodside wra3 a Maupin visitor Monday. Elsie Lewis is working for Mrs Calvin MeCorkle. The Louise home and Albertina Kerr Nursery cared for forty four unfortunate girls and one hundred eighty - two homeless babies and youngsters.
