Staats, and as her attorney I

of "$3000.00 for the purchase
of the Maupin Springs and the
Water System, together with
twenty six and one quarteracres
of ground as required in the
plans submitted by the engineer
employed by the town of
Maupin."

the waters of the springs, as a

Frank Wills Buzan, was born
in Umatilla Co. July 24 1886 age
36 years died December 1922.
He came with his parents to
southern Wasco Co. in 1901 and
has lived in these parts ever
since; on March 28 1913 he was
united in marriage to Zella Mor
rill to which union four children
were bom the first having died
in infancy. He leaves to mourn
their loss a wife and three child
ren a father Jerome Buzan one
sister Mrs. Anson Lindley three
brothers Ralph, Ward, and Aura
Buzan, his mother having died
in 1902. Interment at the ceme
tery out at the old Buzan place.

attending the funeral of Frank
Bjzan, Little Bobbie Buzan
went home with his grandfather

Milton McCorkle was quite
sick last week.
Prof. Lloyd left Saturday for
Colorado in answer to a telegram
stating ' that his father was
seriously injured in a mine. Be
fore he left Maupin a secon i tele
gram arrived telling the sad news
that his father had passed1 away
W. A. Dane has returned from
The Dalles.
Mrs. Sam Wall who has been
sick is now able to be up but her
little son Harvey is ill.
Roy Woodside spent Saturday
in Maupin.
The Dodge brothers have in
stalled a radio at their homestead
Freddie Hornquist and Claire
Parker celebrated their fourth
birthdays with a party at the
parsonage Tuesday. Those pres
ent to enjoy the occasion with
them were-Stanley Magill, Ken
neth Hill, Philnat Lloyd, Orval
Evick, and Laurel Hartman
Mrs. Evick and Crystal Hartmsn
assisted Mrs. Parker.
G. L. and Jim Harpham were
visiting in Wapinitia Tuescay.
Mrs. Ed Bothwell and son De
wey have returned home.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hartman
and daughter Laurel are staying
at the E. M. Hartman home this
week.

ed at the H. N. Dodge home last
Friday evening, where they trip

morning.
