Weather is much warmer and much rain falling for this time of year. Wamic News Jim Kennedy went to Sherar Saturday to meet Mrs. Kennedy and Lucile. Don Miller and family were over from Juniper Christmas. Mrs. Pearl Harvey and chil dren went to Hood River Sunday Charley Lake came out from The Dalles Saturday. B. Harvey and family went to Bruce Driver's on Juniper Flat Christmas. Mrs. Liberty Chastain return ed Saturday from Metolius.' A Christmas tree and literary program was given here Satur day night. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Pratt and Charley Crofoot went to Maupin Friday. - A dance was given here Christ mas night; many attended. Considerable of the snow has melted here the past week. Vernie Norval came out from The Dalles to spend Christmas. Willis Norval and family came up from Tygh Christmas. Dr. Dake came out faom Port land Christmas. (last week) We had our coldest weather here last week, the temperture getting to six below zero,, The snow fell. Many sleighs were out last week, a number coming from Smock. A birthday party was given to Lester Crofoot Friday night. Mrs". Dr. Dake returned from a weeks stay in Portland where she attended the funeral of her aunt, Mrs. Liza Stinson. Charley and Lester Crofoot went to The Dalles Monday, Lester going on to see his sister Ruby. Tom Woodcock took a car load of fat hogs to Portland Friday coming back Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Driver, the parents of a boy baby, born at the hospital in The Dalles the former part of last week, resided here before going to Portland They have named the babe David Dilts. Irma Driver returned today s ON from a weeks stay in The Dalles Mrs. Lena Woodcock came home today from a months stay in The Dalles. She is much im proved in health. Mrs. Mamie Kennedy had her eyes blackened in the car acci dent more than a week ago. Many persons are having the grippe here now. Severe cough ing seems to be the worst form of the cold. Carmel Woodcock is among those who are having the epidemic. Chet McCorkle has sold his ranch to Herman Gesh. . Mrs. Ruby Retherford and baby Barbrra of Juniper Flat visited Mrs. W. O. Wilson in The Dalles last week. Frank Buzan has moved his family from Mosier to The Dalles Smock News Christmas was surely a lovely day and a robin made his appear ance. The S. G. Ledfordand F. Feltch families ate Christmas dinner with the Bradway's. Albert Hills entertaind the J. M. Farlows for dinner. Mrs. Large is spending a few days with Mrs. Fowler before going to The Dalles. D. M. Stancliff returned from The Dalles Saturday evening after taking teacher's examina tion. J. M. Farlow returned Sunday morning from near Maupin, hav ing been looking after his cattle. School began Tuesday morn ing, the pupils having their va cation last week. Mrs. S. G. Ledford received the sad inteligence of the death of her youngest sister, Mrs. Lizzie Edmondson of Smith's Ferry, Idaho. She is survived by her husband and seven chil dren and a host of relatives. Mrs. Bargenholt, Mrs. Foster and children returned in the car from The Dalles Friday morning after an absence of some months Roy Foster came home to spend Christmas with home folks, re turning to his work near Wasco Tuesday morning. Mr. and Mr. Frank Driver of Wamic spent Christmas with the J. E. Woodcock family. (last week) t News is scarce. D. M. Stancliff went The Dal les to take teachers examination Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Wookcock called at the J. M. Farlow home on Sunday P. M. Mr. and Mrs. Bradway called on the Ledfords Sunday P. M Leonard Farlow returned from Corvallis Sunday to spend the holidays with home folks. Husband Charges Neglect Mrs. Edith Crabtree was so fond of dancing that she neglected her husband for that pastime, according to a divorce complaint filed in the circuit court this morning by Isaac Crabtree. In fact, "all her thoughts, desires and ambitions are to hang around dance halls, and to he in the company of high-lifed, fool ish acting and conducting per sons," the husband alleges in the complaint. He further states that Mrs. Crabtree has an un governable temper, and that she has been guilty of cruel and in human treatment toward him. The husband resides on a ranch near Maupin.
