Wapinitia , Nathan Hill went to The Dalles Wednesday to bring out a load of fine cattle for Frank Batty. Clyde Flinn was over from Simnasho Thursday and Fiiday of last week. D. Woodcock took Anna and Ishom West. Lincoln Hartman and Mrs. Grey to Maupin Sat. Mrs. R. W. and R. E. Rich mond spent Monday in our midst Mrs. Chester Brittain and children were Sunday visitors at the Parsonage. Mr. and Mrs. N. W. Flinn and sons Leslie and Jesse of The Dalles spent Sunday and Monday with Mrs. D. W. Sharpe. Fred Magill has rented the house owned by Mrs. Eva Harp ham and expects to move his family to town soon for the winter. Mose Delore and family have moved back to the Tapp place. Miss Erma Smith and Arch. Gutzler were married in Portland Wednesday. . j Dr. I. M. Burnside of Los Ange leB left here for the South taking with him his brother George 1 Burnside who is ill.. . They were also accompanied by Mrs. Shively a nurse. Edyth Loyd celebrated her ninth birthday last Saturday, with a party. The little folks who were present had a very pleasant afternoon and wish their little friend many happy returns. Mrs, Charles Lewis is in Dufur for medical treatment and during her absence Mrs. J. N. Lewis is doing the house work at Jack Kellys and caring for the little grand daughter. Joe Graham made a trip to Clackamas last week bringing a bunch of mules back to Wap. for the winter. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Miller came up from Portland Wednes day. J. M. Powell and family were Maupin visitors Saturday. 0. L. Paquet butchered a fine beef Tuesday. Work was begun on the new school building Monday. Ed Bernard is sawing wood for the people of Wap withe his newly acquired woodsaw. Mrs. Dave Sharpe and Ishom West have been laid up with sore throats. R. W. McCorkle was on the sick list the fore part of the week. J. S. The value of these community gchools...can not be to highly rated and should be helped in every way by all who can. We are fortunate on the Flat in having three good Sunday Schools. The one at Pine Grove is largely attended by people living in that district, who are very loyal and entheu- astic. And not least of our schools is the one at Wapinitia.
