Feltch made a business trip to Maupin Monday. Mrs. CoraGarveyof Payette, Idaho spent last week here visit ing with her sister Mrs. Ipha Duncan. Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Driver of Wamic are spending the week with their daughter Mrs. Jessie Woodcock and family, while Mr. Woodcock is running the thresh ing machine. Master Leslie Woodcock met with what might have been n serious accident, on Saturday while grinding apples, he caught his linger in the cider mill, tear ing off the nail and crushing the bone. Mrs, Margerie Ledford dressed the wounded member and he is getting along fine. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Brown went to Yakima Yn. last week ; for a couple of months stay. I Mrs. Lillian Farlow anddaugh ter Ladolphia have gone to Wamic to cook for a threshing! crew on their tarm near that place. Edward Disbrow is doing chores in their absence. Mr. and Mrs. Callie Duncan and Mrs. Howell went to the mountains on Monday. Dr. Elwood was called on Sat urday to see Mrs. Thos. Wood cock, who was quite ill for a time. Mrs. Luna Savage of Wamic is staying with her. ' (Inst week) Mrs. E- H. Disbrow and family motored to Hood River on Mon day visiting a sister there. S. G. Ledford and family at t jnded the Big Show in The Dal les on Saturday, returning home on Sunday evening. D. M. Stancliff came in from Mjsier on Tuesday for a 10 days stay to attend his orchard here. George Crawford bought stock hogs of F. T. P'eltch and J. C. Brad way. Miss Ethel Cervin returned home after a few days stay with Ludelphia Farlow. The Misses Myrtle and Ivy Mulvar.ey went on Sunday eve. to visit with their sister Bessie Gesh returning on Tuesday eve. Mr. E. E. Wall went to Wapi nitia Saturday on business. Wapinitia Mrs. Belle Delco and children and Mrs. Hazel Cantwell and children went to Dufur Saturday where they will camp and pick fruit. Alice Olsen of Shaniko spent five days here last week visiting har grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Woodside. She returned ta her home Monday. Mrs. Keen has gone to her home in St. Johns and Mr. Keen expects to leave soon. Rev. Parker and family were in Maupin Sunday as dinner guests of the Richmonds. Mr. Olsen, our blacksmith and his wifd have gone to the valley to pick hops. The Delce brothers have charge of the shop during his absence. , Mrs. Jacob Teschner and daugh ter Katherine were on the sick list last week. Prof. Loyd and family of Port land arrived in our midst Mon day. They have rented the Chapel house formerly occupied by Maddrons. Mr. Loyd will h ive charge of the high sthool this year and Mrs. Loyd will teach the primary room. J. M. Powell and family return ei from the mountains Sunday. We had a fine rain last Sunday night. Now watch the weeds grow. Perle Evick has improved the looks of his hoiue greatly by t3aring away the old dining room and kitchen and building an eight foot porch on the east and north. The part removed will bi made into a garage. Hill's new store has just re ceived a coat of paint. Vera Magill was an over Sun day guest at the West home. Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Sharpe spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Brittain fin Wamic. J. I. Parker and son Oren went to the mountains on Tuesday for berries,. There will be no preach ing at the church next Sunday. Mrs. Mary Pechette and sons have gone to the berry patch for an outing. Fred Waidimann and family of Wilsonvill Oregon have been visiting at the home of O. L. Pacquet. Mrs. Waidimann is a niece of Mr. Pacquet. E- A. Hartman was a business visitor in The Dalles the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. N. G. Hedinand Nova went to Portlana Wednesday. Around Maupin Jesse and Orland Walter left yesterday for Newberg to; ttend the annual conference of the Free Methodist church. F. C. Butlers new residence is receiving its first decorative fluid H. A. Whaite is doing the work. A little son arrived' at the J. R. McKee home this morning. Mrs. Julia Endersby is deliver ing her grain to the warehouse, personally driving one wagon.
