Committee Report Council Proceedings Many Buildings Mott-McClure Nuptials Injuries Fatal Joseph Edward Cantrell, 42 years old, who was injured when a rock car upon which he was riding at the Mill creek crusher of the United Contracting: com pany ran away, died 'at The Dalles hospital Saturday night. Cantrell attempted to jump when he saw that the csr was beyond control' but was caught by the cable and tossed into the air, striking on his head. His skull was fractured. He was fore man of the crusher, which sup plies rock for the construction of the Mill cecek market road. His home was in Duf ur. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock from St. Peter's Catholic church, Rev. P. J. O'Rouke officiating. The following were pallbearers: C. W. Stewert, Milton Hayvvorth, Ed Ball, Harvey McClain and II. C. Hurley. Burial was made in the Catholic cemetery. Cantrell is survived by his widow, Mrs Lucille Cantrell ; his father, Willi am R. ; two brothers, William S. : and Richard B., and a sister, Mrs, Daisy Temple, all of Dufur Chronicle July, 17. Harvest season. A change in the open season on deer, quail, Chinese pheasants native pheasants, grouse sage hens and prairie chickens, in all sections of the state where there is an open season, was announced today in a communication receiv ed from the Oregon State Game commission. The new open sea son on deer is set from August 20 to October 31. The season on quail and Chinese pheasants, in districts where the hunting of these birds is permitted, will be from August 20 to September 20. On sage hens, the open season will be from July 15 to July ul, and on prairie chickens from October 15 to October 31. Chang es in the open season in no wife affects the-bag limits or other regulations provided by law, the game commission points out Chronicle. ' The celebration committee re port a $350.00 net gain on the 4th of July celebration and they thank the many patriotic friends for their donations and attendance and all committcmen and officers for their efficient ser vices. Mrs. Lucilo Brown has gone to Grass Valley to help her sister Mr. Brown and the W. 0. D.ihl of Tygh Valley the past c inple of weeks returning home Wi'dnesday. At a special council meeting last night the water question was discussed again and it has been arranged to have, an expert in the water proposition to come within the next few days to look over the situation and give defi nite information on the subject before any action is taken by the town incorporation. The stock and poultry notices have been ordered printed and served and henceforth all animals will be de tained from running at large. Regular council mceing will be held next Wednesday night. Fred Covey was in Maupin Tuesday.
