Crabtree, 77 years old, an early resident of Wasco county in the district near where the town of Maupin now stands, died last night at The Dalles hospital, after an illness of sev eral weeks. He was a Pioneer of Oregon, coming to Linn coun ty in 1883. from Michigan. He came to Wasco county in 1887, settling on the ranch where he lived until 1910, when the family moved to The Dalles. He is survived by' his widow, Mrs. Mary Cratree, and three children Mrs. Albert Jackson, of Portland Mrs. Arthur Crieghton, of The Dalles, and Charles Crabtree of Antelope. The deceased was a member of the United Brethern church. Funeral services' will be held Sunday at 9:30 o'clock from the Zell Funeral home. Rev G. K. Hartman, officiating. Wanzer yesterday made a trip of inspection over the Cow Canyon stretch of The Dalles-California highway, the grade of which has now been completed. This grade extends for a distance of about nine miles from the Jeffer son county line to about two miles past the top of the Cow Canyon hill. Judge Adkisson to day expressed himself as exceed ingly pleased with the work, and as being of the opinion that it will make one of the finest pieces of road in Wasco county, when completed with a rock surfacing'. The Antelope grade, extend ing for 3 1-2 miles along the road to Shaniko, is now com pleted with a rock surfacing. Chronicle.
