Wamic News Miss Grace Miller, who closed her school near Moro Friday, is visiting at the Mike Kennedy home the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Maufert of Grass Valley visited at the Tom Woodcock home Sunday. Tom Woodcgck has purchased the Bud Patison farm land End house ht're in town, paying $K COO GO for it. Mr. Patison took the ranch of Mr. Woodcocks ir, the transaction paying 2500.00 for it. Mr. and Mrs. Palisut will move to The' Dalles this fall. Jimmy Patison has Bold 1-h place in The Dalles, and will move to Corvallis in August . where Phyllis will attend school. Mr., and Mrs. L. Barnurn wen out from The Dalles Thursday, going to the Marion Duncan home on Smock. They visited at the A. E. Lake home on theii return. Earnest Jacobson and Otto J. Runte, salesmen, were here last week from Portland. The Smock school gave a liter ary program and picnic Thursday the last day of their school. Many went from here to attend. . Miss Luna Wright, who taught the Smock school left Thursday afternoon for Portland. Mrs. Mabel. Berry werjt to Astoria Thursday where Mr. Berry is engaged in fishing for a company there. Mike Kennedy is able to walk outside the house again al'tir several weeks of illness. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Woodcock were Dalles visitors Monday. Mrs. Woodcock is takingmedicil treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Driver and A. A. Bonney-were Dalles visitors last week. Not much interest was shown here in the primary election Fri day. Several new members were on the board. I. D. Pearl and Irene Chub left Sun day for Hood River. Base Ball The local baseball delegation went to Dufur last Sunday and won an interesting game over the boys of that place by a score of 9 to 6. The Dufur team were ahead until the seventh inning when Maupin warmed up and tied the score in the eighth, get ing three more scores in the 9th. Batteries-Maupin: Morris and Renick; Dufur: Shrieves and Mulkins. , The Dalles will play here next Sunday, Bend will be here the following date, June 4, Mrs- J. L- Confer who was operated on recently, is very ' much improved. A son was born Monday morn ing to Mr. and Mrs. A Philmlee. Thos. Flanagan came up from Portland the frrst part of the week making a short business and social visit with friends here Mary Morrison has returned from Gaston where she has been attending school. 'Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Henneghan and Mrs. Alice Batty are spend ing this week in Dufur and The Dalles. Mr. Henneghan is on the jury. The Grain Growers Association held a meeting here Tuesday afternoon.
