Burns of the state highway department, will start work Monday on the survey of The Dalles California highway between the top of Cow canyon, in the southern part of Wasco county, and the end of the present exiftihg surveys at Dufur, it was announced at the local highway office this morning The Burns party arrived in The Dalles this morning from Grant county, where it had been work ing on the . GRAY of Portland is now in Maupin, Oregon for another week and announces his intention to remain while his services are in so continuous demand. HOTEL KELLY Mrs. Wilhelm Caroline Kinney was born December 8, 1853 at Hamilton Ontario Canada, and died at Maupin March 11 1922. Her first marriage was to Henry T. Gilbert to which union her child ren were born. Mr. Gilbert has passed on before. On June 12 1912, she was again united in marriage to L. C. Wilhelm who survives her. She leaves to mourn their loss a husband and three children. William A. Gilbert of Marshfleld Oregon, Daniel N. Gilbert of Harbor Beach Michigan and Lillian B. Morrison of Seattle Washington; John N. and Anna Mae Gilbert having preceded her to the other world. ' Mrs. Wilhe'm has been an es teemed resident of Maupin for the past nine years, and practic ally the entire town were present to show their huit regards at her funeral in the io al church last Sunday tnorr ing at 10 o'clock. Her last illness, oi several days due to pneumonia i nd heart trouble, was severe, and in spite of all that medical aid and loving hands could do, death came Saturday morning at 3 o'clock. Among the most active m Red Cross work, the most regular at religious worship was Mrs. Wil helm, who will be sadly mhs-td by all who knew her. Mr. Wil helm has the sympathy of the entire community in his bereavement.
