Henry PeUrson of Dufur is visiting his sister Mrs. Carrie Weberg. Ben Foreman expects to take a car load of hots to Portland Saturday. The first band of sheep to be brought from the mountains came out Monday. They belong to Mr. Carlin. Ralph Hammer, Elsie 1 ewis, Mary and Nickolson OBrien left for the state fair Monday Mrs. J. M. OBrien and Mrs. Biiil-ee are the chaperones. Mr. McKec moved his family credit for the success of the boy and girls' display is due to Mrs Callie M. Maupin, Oregon Wamic News The big fsir is over and every body is pleased with the success of the event, it being the best fair ever held at the Tygh Valley grounds. The exhibits were better than ever before and the attendance larger. The features of the entertainment pleased the crowd and success attended the whole affair. Everyone is to enthused with the grandeur of the success that steps will be taken immediately to make the next one a better and grander fair. ,Tee largest crowd visited this fair since its organization and the gate receipts were bet ter than ever before. Many persons were camped and enjoyed the outing. The aeroplane was an added feature and many persons took their first ride in the air. Irina Driver Munier was the first woman to make the (light at the grounds. The Warmspring Indians add ed much ,to the amusement of the big crowd gathered at ti e grandstand. Mrs. Frank Kelly of Portland spent last week with Mrs. Dee Woodside at Wapinitia. Mrs. I. T, Court right, Mrs. J. H. Besset, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Buskel were over from Friend to attend the fair. Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Zumwalt of Portland, former residents of this place and Maupin, attended the fair. Mrs. Andy Kistner who has been very 'ill at her home in Tygh is improving. ..Mrs. Rosa. Garn, after, spend ing a month at the home of her son Raymond Doering returned to Imbler Monday. Mrs. Frankie Palmateer was called to Friend a short time ago by the serious illness of Mrs. Annie Byrd. Mrs. Bell Prout arrived Friday from Huntington and will remain a month. She hope3 to improve her ill health by the genial climate of this place. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Patison and son Kenneth and Mrs. Kitty Allen were out from The Dalles attending the fair and visiting relatives here. The Misses Lucile Kennedy i and Phyllis Patison an e out from The Dalles Thursta.', at tending the fair. They runain ed until Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. R. II. Darn el and daughter Ruby came out from The Dalles last week, at tending the fair and visiting relatives. Floyd Woodside was thrown from a horse while riding a race at the fair, but was not hurt. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Driver, Mr. and Mrr. Ed Woodcock and son Leslie went to The Dalles Monday. Jim Kennedy, Guy Harvey, Tom Driver, Willie, Willis and Vernie Norval and Amos John son were Dalles visitors Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Kellogg of lone visited the fair last week. G. E. Corson of The Dalles furnished a piano for the fair. The Woodcock orchestra assist ed by C. M. Plyler furnished music for the fair. The young deople danced each evening on the platform. Miss Alda Norval and Miss Fay New received their diplomas today foiCthe eighth grade'. Mis. Ethel Magill gave the examina tion r County School Superintendent A. E. Gronewald had charge of the children's club work at the fair. Mrs Callie Bigbee assist ed in the work. School took up here yesteaday with Mrs. May Chub of Hood River and Miss M. J. The sixty eighth session of the Oregon annual Conference of the United Bretheren in Christ was held at Philomath, Oregon begin-1 ning the 15th and c ntinuing until the 19th. It was proceeded by a two days' session of Branch Christian Endeavor Union. Those in attendance from the church at Wapinitia were Pastor J. I. Parker, Mrs. F. G. Magill and Miss Jennie Bronner. The ses sions were a great inspiration to those who attended. J. I.
