Seriously Bruised
E. V. Doty was seriously and
painfully hurt Monday after
poon, shortly after 1 o'clock
when a ladder on which he
was crossing from the warehouse
platform to a car being prepared
for loading with wheat slipped,
causing him to fall on it. Mr.
Doty had the car door in his
hands and it also fell on him.
No bones were broken and it is
hoped he will in due time recover
from the injuries. '
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Morris have
gone to Drew, Ore. on a hunting
and outing trip. Little Thelma
is staying in Maupin with Mr.
and Mrs. Beckwith.

Obituary
(Wapinitia)
John A. Evick was born Feb
ruary 16, 1837, departed this life
August 23rd, 1921, attaining the
age of 84 years, 6 months and 7
days.
He was born in Virginia, later
resided in Ohio and Missouri,
coming to Oregon about 29 years
ago.
Mr. Evick was one of the few
remaining members of the G. A.
R., having served his country
during the Civil war in Company
A. of the 88th regiment of Ohio
Infrantry. When a young man
he was united in marriage with
Miss Harriet Ballard. To tbisi
union nine children were horn,
eight of whom are living.

Mrs. Hill's mother and sisters
came over from Smock and vis
ited her a few days.
Miss Nell Harphara of The
Dalles is visiting her sister, Mrs.
McCoy.
Rev. McDonald of. Portland
conducted the services here Sun-
; day, also preached at Pine Grove
in. the afternoon. At the close
of the service three persons
were baptized.

Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Young
left Wednesday for Roscburg to
visit Mr. Youngs sister.

elected principal of the Shaniko
schools. The schools at Shaniko
will open September 15.

from The Dalles and is visiting
her sister Mrs. Earl Crabtree.
