Cooperation During the lust few month-) the word ' 'Cooperation" has been brouRht before the public in numeroim publications, and through many other agencies of expression. In a discussion of thin word us it applies to problems of am'i culturistour object n to deter mine wheatter cooperation is something; logical and possible that can be applied to our prob lems or is it mearly the dream of an idealist. Cooperation as we understand the term means a "united effort to obtain or reach a definite objective". For a practical ill ustration of the feasibility of application of word under, the definition above. I wish to refer you to. the result? obtained after the command of the allies cn the West Front (in the late war) was centralized. Before this time you will remember, the Central Powers had every thing their own way. What happened after ward needs no explanation. I might cite to you also, our own government from the time of its inception until the present day, asthe greatest illustration in all history. Space forbids a discussion on this subject. So we will conclude that cooperation is benificial. Can it be applied to our prob lems? It can, but it is very likely that it will not be; because great number of us imagine the word cueperation is a magic, word, a cure all that will right our grievances, without any conscious effort on our part. If cooperation means doing those things that will please and benefit a few to the detriment of the many, such act being pro hibitive to the locality at large, from the very nature of the thing contemplated, owing to the financial stringency or other conditions beyond the power of the members of the committee tc regulate. If cooperation means an active, hostile campaign against a movement for the b?tterment of the community, without first offering a plan more logical than the one attack ed. If cooperation means attemp ting to defeat those things of benefit to a community, because of our personal dislike and prejudice, to the agency through which thsy find expression or are brought into existance. If cooperation means seeking to batter ourselves to the detriment and loss of our neighbors. If co operation means to declare any project crooked or a man false upon rumors circulated to that effect, without a personal invest igation of these reports and If cooperation means to repeat nil gossip that reaches our em Hnd to exaggerate the stones in '"Business is Easiness," the Little man said, "A battle where 'everything goes,' Where the only gospel is 'get ahead,' And never spare friends-or foes, S1hv or be slain,' is the slogan cold, . I say gentle men, to apply it to our problem is as simple as putting on our shoes, and for the same reason, it come naturally and from force of habit.
