JANUARY 14, 1921 VOL 7, NO 14 THE YEAR $1.50 School Notes The Maupin Commercial Club will meet at the School house this evening. The Intermediate and High school rooms will add a few numbers to the program. The class leaders for this month are: 5th Earl Greene. 6th Helen Weberg. 7th Jean Wilson. 8th Arthur Philmlee, Freshman Jessie Walters. Sophomore Mabel Cyr. Junior Lester Crofoot. Senior Lewis Derlhick. Those averaging above ninety are From the grammar grade room: Jean Wilson, Winefred Kaiser, Helen Philmlee. Helen Weberg, and Earl Greene. From High: Mabel Cyr, Jessie Walters, Cal vin Potts, Orland Walters, Lor rain Stovall, and Hazel Williams. A meeting was called to order by the Maupin Athletic Club Tuesday evening at 7:30 o'clock. The minutes were read and ap proved and the different appoint committees reported on the Club work they had done. A few new committees were appointed. The Club now lias two sets of new boxing gloves and a punching bag, and expect to purchase other athletic materials in the near future. After all business was transacted they engaged in a number of good boxing matches The High School received a number of recitation chairs Thursday. Ida Duncan. C' E. H. S. Tuesday even ing ran into a slide with their speeder between McClellan and Two Springs, injuring six men. A special engine and caboose was dispatched to take them to the hospital. One man suffered some very severe cuts about the head and a broken chin, another a shoulder blade broken. Dr. Elwood accompanied them to The Dalles, returning Wednes day afternoon. Miss Feltch and Mr. and Mrs. Bradway visited with -Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Duncan Friday after noon, Mrs. Duncan is recovering from a severe illness. The Federal Farm Loan met on Tuesday P.
