Wasco Couuty Fair at The Duller
have been well distributed foi
some, But what about our big
Southern Wasco County Fair on
the beauliHil Bpacioiui tuir groutxii
west of Tygh Valley? No one so
fur as the Times Iihh been able to
learn knows when it is to be held
or whether a Fair will be sieged
thore at all this year or not. Why
let it din? Under the management
io charge in recent years past tbr
showing made was closely contest
ing the county fairs, and would
in a short time, due to the excel
lent location, surrounding and
advantages to be enjoyed, become
the location fur all agricultural
nnd slock exhibits held in the
county. Awake!
Few of the local ladies seem to
realize the opportunities offered
and the advantages and instruc
tion to be gained by attendance
. at the nurses' training class con
duced by Miss Cotiuthan every
Thursday morning at the school
house. While the course is neces
sarily brief it is comprehensive
und should be appreciated by all
within reasonable diulauce. Only
a few mure lessons yet remain nnd
all ladies, especially those who
have commenced the course are
cordially inyited to attend.
To drop into h D. Kelly's puck
iog house some morning when he
und (.1 forge Stout are completing
the preparation of a truck load of
vegetables and melons for the
local markets uhuuld convince the
most, pessimistic of the wonderful
forlility . of soil in this section.
Three tomatoes are loo wide aud
deep for ordinary pack and musb
ujolons of bucIi Itunlense size that
it is a common occurence for them
to tip the tculos at nine to twelve
pounds. And watermelons!
The Steel bridge spanning the
Deschutes at this place is very
evidently in need of several new
planks. Drivers of machines are
necessarily careful in their inaua
gomeut of their steering apparatus
to avoid getting into anoying holes
or possibly woroe trouble when
crossing the bridge.
