THE M AUPSM TIM ES VOL 6, NO 40 mm Condon 2, Maupin 1 (Grass Valley Journal) The base ball , game played in Grass Valley last Sunday bet w een Condon and Maupiu wa8 witness ed by a very large crowd coming 'from every direction to see a game that is not played every day dur ing ball season as the score would iudicate. There was uo wrangling over the umpire's dpoisiou. . . We have not the score book and catiuot give the game by innings. Condon first went (o the but and at the last half of the ninth, Mau piu at the bat, the Coudou pitcher fanned the three batters, resulting in Condon's favor by a score of 2 to 1. We believe we express, the opinion of a majority when we say that Condon bad just a trifle the best team, having Shelon as pitch kjr aud receiving excellent support, and this can be said of Morrow vfor Maupiu, at eritical times he made good and is entitled to much praise. The batteries lor t lie teams were, for Condon, Fitz uiaurice aud Sheldon; for Maupin, Renick and Morrow. To give some idea'ot the crowd 'It Pays to Pay F. M, Jory all vStaple Groceries Fresh.
