Winifree of Maupin were held from the Chnptnan parlors Tuesday afternoon, Chronicle. Pleasant Evening Last FriJuy evening Mr. R. S. Slusher and Mrs. II. R. Kaiser were hostess at a phower at the Slusher home in honor of Mrs. Virgil Mayhew. The recpption room was festooned with red and white with cupies and bells com pleting the decorations. Twenty four ladies were present. Social conversation and the solving of a puzzle verse occupied the first part uf tbe evening, Miss Selleck win ning the prize of a teapot w hich she presented to tbe bride, and Mrs. Kenick tbe booby, an nll-day-sucker, which she also pre sented to tbe bride. A chariot decorated with red and white, laden with beautiful gifts, which was driven by Evn Slusher with Winifred Kaiser and Loraine Stoval conveying it, was preeentcd to the brido. Ora Maynard sold Ids farm of 400 acres, including machinery, horse?, cattle, sheep and hogs to Calvin McCorkle for $16,000. Mr. and Mrs. Maynard will leave Sat urday for The Dalles and after a few days' visit with relatives there will go on to California with n view of locating there. A U. Mayuard has sold his lease on the Tapp farm and has disposed of bis household goods, stock, etc, and will leave Saturday with C, 0. Maynard for California. Mre, A. R. Maynard is now visiting a daughter in Idaho, but will join them in California. The Maynards are old time residents here and they will be sadly missed from our community. Mrs. Alice Dodge arrived here from Kansas Monday and is em ployed at tbe Barzee. Mrs. Joe O'Brien has purchased a gasoline washing machine. Mrs. Mary Pechett returned home from a month's visit with her daughters who live near Sandy Miss Anttta Davis of Kstacada has been visiting at the home of her uncle A. J. Hammer. Joe Graham is removing the old corner store building from his property which he recently pur chased. Stillman Goodenough has sold his Wapinitia properly to A. It. Maynard. G. E. Wood came over from Waniic Monday and moved his j cattle from the MjCoikle ranch to j his home place. N. G. Hedin, Harold Rether iford and the Wilson boys attend ed the lecture at Maupin Wednes day night. ' Business has been liyely in the Cupid Busy Don A. Slogfdill and Miss T.tvy V. Brittain were passenges to The Dalles M inday where they were uni ed in marriage Tuesday morn ing. Mr. and Mrs. Stogdill re turned on Wednesday's afternoon train, Mrs. Stogsdill remaining in town for the lecture that evening while Don, out of feir of tbe mumps, wended his way home ward alone. A chariyari party were out to call at the Stogsdill home last night. Alfred A. McCorkle ofTygh Valley and Miss Edna A. Doering of Imbler were married in Tbe Dalles January 14. After their return from a trip to LaGrarde will make their home at Grass Valley. Mr. and Mrs. McCorkle are popular young people of .Tvgh having spent most of their lives in that section and have the best wishes of a host of friends.
