The Maupin State Bank is an institution that has proved u boon to the residents of that sec tion, who before it came iuto exigence were compelled to do their banking busiuess iu The Dalles. The Kelly hotel, con striuited and now operated by L D. Kelly on the east bank of the river, is unable to care for the many vasdors who stop in the little city. It has 35 rooms, but thia is not sullieieut aud plans are underway for expansion. One of the finest things about Maupin is its water. Gushing forth iu a cold sparkling stream from the cliffs back of the (own it a giant spring, wnler direct firm the glaciers of Mb. Hood. The spring is capable of supplying a city of many thousands.
