Miss Kuby Wilson commenced teaching Monday at the Oak! (irove school. Lyle Bighee left here Tuesday for Portland. The Stockmen's Association held their annual meeting a Lewi--hall Saturday afternoon. About thirty-five were present. D, Wood side was elected president for the coming year. It is estimated that there will be between 800 and 1000 head of cattle turned on the range from this section the coining year. Several new members have joined the association. A skeeing party, of Portland men and Joe Graham of this place left Sunday morning for Clacka mas Lake and Mt. Wilson. Jim Madron took them as far as the Dane cabin. The snow was so deep then; he could go no farther vvithaleam and they will make tho real of the trip on their slices. Word reached here lust week that Nelson Weberg, an old pion eer of this country had passed away the lGth at the home of bis daughter near Ontario, Calif. He with his family came from Sweed eu and settled in this vicinity in 1882, living here until twelve years ago, when he went to reside in California. He was born in 18-11 at Upmar, Sweedon, being 78 years of age and is surviyed by bis wife, Mrs. Carrie Weberg, and two Bon?, Ollie and Alfred We berg, and three daughters, Mrs. Annie Smith, Mrs. Edna Laugh lin of this place and Mrs. Chris tina Cunningham of California, at whose home he passed away, and thirteen grand children, lie was very highly respected by all the old timers of this place.' A little daughter arrived at the home of Mr. and and Mrs. Jake Tuschner the first of the week. Mrs. Tuschner's mother from the valley is with her. Mrs. Jennie Gabel who lias been quite sick for some time was taken to The Dalles Wednesday to receive medical treatment. Ed Davis lost one of his best 2- year.old colts. It had fallen into the manger and lay on its back f r some time before they discov ered it and died from the tffects Mr. Osborne and Stillmau Good enough made a trip to Maupin Tuesday in their car.
