Goodenougb. was a busi ness visitor iu town yesterday from Wapinitia. Mr. and Mrs, Albert Savage went to Warm Springs Monday. Jim Kistner was in from Tygh, spending several days here last week. Mrs. Elsie Campbell and Mrs, Maty Eeaty came home from Warm Springs Monday. Two bands of sheep passed through here last week from the monntasn range. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dahl were up.from Tygh Saturday. Many loads of lumber and wood have been hauled from this place the iast two-weeks. Miss Lucile Kennedy came up from Portland Saturday. Mrs. Luella Johnson and son Housty went to Yaknna, Wn., a couple weeks ago to spend the winter. Stephe Wing is the latest one to buy a car here, having purchased a Chevrolet. W. 1. Johnson brought it out from The Dalles. An immeute rain fell here the former part of the week. Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Woodcock of The Dalles spent laBt week at the A. E. Lake home. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Woodcock were ovr from Mhupin Sunday, guests at the T. J. Seufert home. Dick Palniateer hauled a load of shingles Tuesday from Sherar for the J, R. Woodcock house. Rev. G. E. Wood preached in the church Sunday at 11 o'clock and in the evening. Mrs. Wood and baby accompanied him. They were guests at the J. II. Eubanks home. The funeral of Mrs. Alice Smith who died at The Dalles hospital was helil here yesterday. Services were conducted in the church bv Rev. Larson of Gateway. Mrs. Smith was a sister of J, L. Kool who conducts the Star Lodging house in The Dalles, and an aunt of Mrs. J. W. Ayres and Mrs. J. W. Farlow of Smock. She had many warm friends in The Dalles where she has spent the last few years of her life with her brother. A son, daughter and eon-in-law accompanied the remains here. She was "buried in the Four Cor ners cemetery. There ars uo cases aB far as known on the Flat. Mr. Madron and Lawson return ed home from the Valley Sunday. One would judge from the ap pearance of this country now that it is spring instead of fall. Every one is busy plowiug and seeding and the grain is growing fine The Fischer truck has made several trips here lately hauling alfalfa hay to J. P. Abbott's, and taking wood back to, Maupin. Star Clyde Fliniiaud l.enard Weberg arrived home Saturday from Cor vallis, having stopped in The Dalles to take the examination for the army. Both passed 100 per cent. Vera Brunner and Emma Smith spent the past week visiting home folks. Thev returned to The Dalles Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Julius Shipflin were visitors at The Dalles Satur day. Mr. and Mrs. I. J. Powell re turned lant week from an extend ed visit in Wn. They purchased a home in Hoover, Wu., and left Wednesday for that place. Dee Wright arrived here the firnt of the week from Wu., where he spent the summer. He brought a bunch of the government horses back with him. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Wood inade a trip to The Dalles Wednesday to purchase their new furniture, and will luuve to Wamic at once. Mr. and Mrs. Orange Brittain.
