Mm. Ilatlie Crablree arrived Tuesday from The Dalles, spend ing several days with her daughter Mrs. Mvrtle Swift. Frank Wing moved his family the former part of the week to the Noble place. The children' are at tending school here. There is a demand for houses here this fall. Several persons have been turned away, there be ing no vacant residences, - Jack Swift has moved his fam ily from Antelope to Garibaldi, on the coast, Frank and Percy Driver made a trip to White River Thursday to get their car batteries charged. Miss Lucile -Kennedy returned Thursday from a lour months' stay in Portland. Farlow Bros, took four loads of fat hogB to fcherar last week for shipment to Portland. Mrs. Marion Farlow and little daughter were down from Smock Thursday. ' Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Mclurry and three children spent several days at the J. P. McMrry home last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Ray and little son of ashwood were visitors at D. A. Campbell home last week. returning iSaturday. Mrs. Ellen Rntber and two small children who have spent two weeks here returned home with them. J, A. Ward has moved in the Santord house. More than 3 1 4 inches of- rain fell here Friday night and Satur day. This is the heaviest rain reeorded here since the settlement of the place, Much damage was done to roads by the heavy rain. Tygh hill leading to The Dalles was rendered impassable by the rock built road bed at the Old Mu'b Rest being carrien out, the rain boing equal to a water spout in that conyon. Tis place was without mail eer vice Saturday on account of a slide on the Deschutes road. Mrs. Bell Front and grand daughter, Leone Zumwalt left Sun day for Huntington after a two weeks' visit here and on Junier Flat. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Burlin game and little daughter Marian left Sunday for Topperiisli, Wii. Ed Cbaaidler and fiitnily came over from Grass Valley Sunday. Many have gone to the Fair. The crocheted quilt made by the Ladies' Social Club has been sent to the Fair to be sold, the proceeds going to the Red Cross. Being the 83rd anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. U. S, McCorkle's wedding, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Patison entertained them at din ner. Mr. and Mrs. C. IS. Pratt were guests also.
