Fleming arrived home Monday after a two weeks' visit with her mother in Portland. Thos. Connolly returned to Portland yesterday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kistner were over from Tygh yesterday. Pine Grove Wapinitia Plains Commercial Club met Dee. 1st, at 8, P. M. in Evick's hall. The Club opened tbe hooks for now members, for the charter list; 34 members were recei ved. Ladie3 joined free of co?t, old club members were given cred it for one year's dues in the new organisation. David Marr of Yamhill county, who played "The Holy City''. He was accompani ed by Miss Ruby Wilson, Mrs. Cyr sang splendidly, a solo, entitled, "Let's all be Ameri cans now. Senator J. L. Henkle was unable to atten I and deliver bis address. President Geo. Wood made a short address, explaining the use and purposes of the club, After the programme N. G. Iledin spoke briefly of Oregon's resources, its great national wealth, be also ex plained the Wapinitia Irigattion company's position, as to rights, its possibilities, its water shed; and the progress of the Wapinitia Plains country. After the address a bountiful supper, with chicken, pies, cake, and coffee, was served. The club meeting was fellowfd by a dancing party, the Wapinitia Baud plaved. The rain Thanksgiving was en joyed by eyeryone. Mis. R. C. Tunison of Portland and Mrs. J. G. Tunison went to South Juuction last Saturday to visit Mrs. L. B. Haines, returning Tuesday to Maupin to visit Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Tunison. . Lee Jackson and Miss Clara Gibson were passengers Saturday afternoon to South Junction re turning Monday morning to Maupin.
