Mays came out from Port land Saturday, returning Wednes day. Carl Dobl and Solomon IJanser were business visitors at this place Saturday. W. H. McAtee was called to Portland Tuesday evening. The school children organized an Industrial Club Monday with a fair membership. MrB. R. L. Morris is home after a few months' absence, be has been quite ill since her return. The Gleamer Club girls under the supervioion of Mrs. Hewitt gave ft Valentine party Friday night in Mr. Van Duyne's house in the park. The building was splendidly decorated as the result ef the girls' labor for several days. Several games were played and supper consisting of cake, pie, sandwiches, pickles, milk and tea, was served. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Beckwith are visiting at the M. M. Morris home, A meeting of the Consolidated Telephone Co. was held here Sat urday. Among other business transacted it was voted that V. P. Steers should keep the central of fice for another year. J. E. Kennedy and , V. E. Woodcock- were Tygh visitors Monday. Swable arrived from Portland Saturday where she had spent the last month, 1 Dr. Elwood was called here Fri day to attend Vivian Eubanks. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Eubanks took took the child to The Dalles Sat urday to have- his teeth treated, having been suffering with neuralgia Di'- Shannon came up from Tygh Sunday to attend Mrs. Alta Miller who is suffering with bron chial trouble. Mrs. I. D. Driver was suffering with Ingrippe last week. I. D. Driver went to Portland Saturday. Don Huberline, Arba Price and Willie .Gray . of Friend attended the dance here tw weeks aso. John Burlingame of Wildcat canyon was tvading at the store here last week- Win Hull was up from his homestead on the Deschutes Fri day. " . Naomi, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Magill was sick last week. J. E. Kennedy arrived Sunday from a three weeks' stay in' Port-laud. i Floyd Eubanks made a trip to Shrrar Sunday to meet his mother who was returning from Portland. Carl Pratt visited the telephone meeting at Tygh Saturday. This place and Smock will have free telephone switching with Tygh and surrounding places. A meeting will be held here Sat urday to arrange for building, a telephone line to Tygh. . 1 Word reached this place that Frank Bonney a former resident, was very ill at his home near Hubbard. -W. Marion Duncan and wife of Priscillas Surprise The Ladies of the Priscilla Club planned a pleasant surprise for Mrs. II. Kaiser Monday afternoon. The time was spent in sewing, af ter which a delicious luncheou was served. Those present were Mrs. II. H. Kaiser, Mrs. A. C. Moad,Mrs. R. W. McShane, Mrs. D. M. Shattuck, Mrs. E. A. May hew, D.M. Goetjen, Mrs. Kellogg, Mrs. Wilhelm, Mrs. Roy Slusher, Mrs. D. L. Rutherford, Mrs. G. L. Harphan, Mrs. F. D. Stuart, Miss Nellie Harphan, Mrs. Geo. Vani derpool. fcent were called to the home of Mrs. Duncan's parents, J. R. Woodcock's, as Mrs. Woodcock was very low with an attack of neuralgia, from which she has been a great sufferer for many years. She is little better at present. Mrs. Chas. Duncan gave a birth day dinner Sunday in honor of her son George and daughter Ida, their dates being the same, George 20 years, Ida 16 years. S. II. Mulvaney was a business visitor Wednesday at Ends. Wilbur Mulvaney and George Duncan hauled sawdust on the Gate Preek grade. It was a sheet of ice and dangerous for the ichool children riding and driving ai well as others. Last Monday fire broke out in the ceiling of Courtright's kitchen and burned a small hole through before it was .discovered, but was soon extinguished. The pipe had pulled apart in the garet. ' Chas.
