A boy baby was born to Mr. and
Mrs. Floyd Johnson - on the 2nd.
Ralph Nelson is home from sev
eral months' stay in the Willam
ette Valley.
Lewie McCoy, after spending a
few days here, left Friday for a
business trip to The Ialles. His
home-is at Frieda.

Grandma Sandford was on the

Mrs, Floyd Johnson is very ill
with pneumonia, pr. Shannon
was called from Tygh yesterday to
attend the child.
Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Rambeau of
Gaieway arrived last evening and
are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Magill. Mrs. Rambeau is a step
sister of Mrs. Magill.

We are having real spring lie
weather. Green grass is seen on
the south hillsides; the ground is
drying very fast and it seemi as if

A surprise party was given Miss
Lois Batty at her home here Fri
day evening. Quite a crowd was
present and all enjoyed such a
good time that on Monday eyening
a surprises was given Lester and
Chester Crabtree at their .bachelors
home here.
Farmers are beginning to feel
good over their fall sown grain.
It was feared that a large per cent
of it had frozen and rotted in the
ground, but the warm weather of
the past ,ten ays is bringing it up
pretty good.

school house, to make a perman
ent organization. All parties in.

AGED PIONEER
FOUND DEAD
Monday afternoon on going to
the home of John Cotter on the
bluff above the power plant, H. L.
Morris found him sitting in a chair
dead. Mr. Morris notified other
neighbors and Dr. Elwood was
called from here. Mr. Cotter had
probably died either Saturday or
Sunday morning. The evidence
was so conclusive that death canie
naturally that it was not thought
necessary to hold an inquest.
The remains were burjed Tues:
day in the cemetery near Tygh.
Mr. Cotter was a .German 'a n,d a
pioneer of this eectjon liyjng
alone on his ranch above White
river. He was about 72 years old.

and the mill will be moved ill the

Mr. Pratt of Salem have purchas
ed O. L. Paquet's lower farm,
