tract, which were referred to the
city engineer and water committee

A. Bartell, repronentlrrg the Lions
club, made the proposition that the
eity purchase an airplane from the
federal government- which would
be used for Instructional pur
pose. It Is said the cost would
be only one dollar.
; The provision goes with the sale
that the plana must he dismantled
and not used again. These are
planes which the government Is
discarding as they are out of date.
Hcforo the city will make the pur
chase It will be necessary for the
Aero club or some organisation to
arrange for a building for the ma
chine and to guarantee Its maintenance.

and family, Hlchard Herbert and

20. Word was received today that
Mrs. J. D. Wirth had died at the
family home near Ltaker. Mrs.
Wlrth is the wife of J. D. Wirth,
who formerly was proprietor of
the Cot tape Grove laundry. The
family moved to Baker Inst Sep
tember. binco that time one son
has died and Mrs. Wlrth lost
brother recently.
Mrs. Wlrth had been lit since the
death of her son but was consider
ed to be Improving and her death
came as a shock. Mr Wlrth and
twelve children survive. One
daughter. Mrs. Albert Mat son
sides in Cottage (trove who Is
leaving tomorrow for Baker to at
tend the funeral.

for use In the lodge kitchen.

Mrs. Mathilda Warren Dies

has been received of the death of
Mrs. Mathilda Warren, who for
merly lived at Donna, at her home
at Retsie. Wash., July 15, aged 61
years. She was the last of the
pioneer family of Soloman Zum
walt, who came to Oregon in 1850.
She leaves one son, Grant Warren,
of Asotlon, Wash., and one daugh
ter, Mrs. June SturglU of Phoenix,
Arizona.

absence of five years, during which
time she has visited relatives 'and
friends in the East, going first to
New Jersey and from there stoo
ping at different places until
reaching her home town.
She has Kent remarkably well
during all the time of her absence
and returns as robust as when she
left. She went with her daughter
Miss Pherne Miller who was a
teacher In the loc&l schools and
since has pursued her profession In
ne east.
