Mr. Stauffer waa ao Impreased

purchased tho first one delivered In
Bethlehem. He ulso was a pioneer
with his first Oldsmobile. creating
aenaatlon with the little one-cy
linder, curved dash car among the
citizens of Carlisle, pa., where he
was director of the Indian school.
During summer vacations .ho drove
to Long Branch, N. J., tfnd fre
quently thrilled the natives by driv
ing on Ihe famous ftumson Road
with as many as eight Indian boys
clinging to the little runabout.
Eight years ago ho desired to use
his first cur for a special purpose
and traced It from the man to
whom he had sold It to Its then
owner, a farmer. He found that
the chassis had been demolished
but that the 19-year-old engine
was running the farm machinery
and equipment.

manufacturer, company sales of
ficials declared in Toledo this week.
Even the announcement of the
new Whippet six, which was re
cently introduced at the lowest
price range ever reached by a light
six, failed to lessen the demand for
the four cylinder model, It was
said, the present unfilled volume
being In excess of 20,000 orders.
Production Speeded Up
In all departments at the Willys
Overland plant In Toledo both day
and night shuts have been In op
eration since March 1 to speed up
production and supply the great
est demand ever made for Willys
Overland products. This blgh-tlde
production la also being maintained
at the Willys-Overland plants in
Pontlac, Mich., Elmlra, N. Y,, and
Toronto, Canada.
