OIL RUMOR SAID FALSE
GUARANTY COMPANY STILL
CUTTING IN SHALE
Humors that oil had been struck
at the Guaranty Oil company well
southeast of the city, last night
were declared false by Carlos J.
lteeves," head driller.
Origin of the rumors was un
known. The drillers reported that they
were about 10 feet into the second
stratum of white shale and still
cutting out this formation. Drilling
was resumed late In tho week, af
ter a shut' down of operations for
several-'days owing to a cave-in
above the parafine stratum, caused
by a release of gas when the par
affin was struck. '
The entire first body of white
shale has been cased in, said Mr.
Hceves, the casing being 2830 feet
long at present.
