It 1 the Hpirtt of this quotation
that i exemplified In the good fel
low work that ha boe.n carried on
for many yours. At the Christmas
eaon. It In a truism, of course, to
tiy that as our heart ure over
flowing with "good wilt to men"
vro desire to share of our bounty
with those not so fortunate.
How best to extend of our jfood
to others Is the great question. The
newspapers have taken a lively in
terest in the matter and have sup
plied na rncs to nil w ho w ished
'them so that Christmas would be
more of a Joyous occasion to the
needy on op.
But while with these names a
splendid work may be done, there
remain thee dear shy folks who
will not admit that for some pood
reason this Christmas Is to be a
slim one. Jf through careful ques
tioning one can ifind out these
people, an opportunity im uffordod
for giving, that will be deeply aj-l
preeiaiea.
Teacher Distributes Parages
In the schools, too, good fellow
work has been carried forward,
with excellent results. Packages,
are brought to the teachers for dis
tribution, nnd each child has thu
had a chance to ehare his good
with his ""brother."
t The children, no question about
it. will enjoy their Christmas more who are perhaps weary of waiting
tor having thought of others, and
for having prepared or their hap
piness, A valuable suggestion has
come In the form of interesting
children In tho hospitals of their
own cities. Children In one family
or In small groups can prepare
Christmas for tho children's ward
of the hospital. 4
For one thing, broken toys can
be repaired for the sick ones. Paint
and paste wilt do wonder and
keep little fingers happily busy.
Games cun be donated or bought.
Then there ore scrap books to be
made. Colored pictures from mag
axlnes and Advertisements can be
cut out and pasted on paper cam
bric, the edgee of which have been
neatly "pinked." Animal pictures
always interest children, and all
sorts of childish scenes and ac
tivity?, I
Arrange Iirtter'' Scrapbook
Then other scrapbooks can be
filled. In the form of letters. A
little printing ts necessary here for
example, "Dear Friend, (lettering)
father (picture) and mother (pic
ture) Join me in wishing you a
very merry Christmas tlettering).
We expect Santa Claus (picture)
and his reindeers (picture) soon."
This will give an Idea of how to
arrange a "letter" scrapbook.
The older folks can assist In ar
ranging for the decoration of the
hospital ward, and arrange, too,
for some Christmas music. In
com wards, new records for the
phonographs will be acceptable and
in others, a little program of
Christmas carols can be sung for
me invalids. There are many, many
ways to bring happiness to those 1 ardently desire.
to bo "uu" and well again.
Speaking of hospitals; reminds

will receive gifts alike. Pretty
boxes are made ready with gifts of
stationery, cards, cigarettes, dif

In one place, one organ ixnt I on gave
each man a handkerchief, another
group gave socks, another pre
pared a tree for each ward and
so on.
Help for Settlement Htxisos
Another fine work the women s
clubs may undertake at Christmas
Is to nasist a settlement house.
One club reported to Its members,
that clothes, especially stockings,
were needed at Us "adopted" settle
ment house, that soap would be
welcome, and preserves and Jellies
too. A group of members were
asked to make baby clothes, that
were much needed, for babies In
that district.
For each club, and for each fam
ily, there is an interesting and in
dividual way of handling their
4'good fellow" work and it Is hoped
that some of the suggestions given
here will prove worth while. It
becomes after all. a matter of look

"What could I do?' she smiled.
Then In a whisper, "Cute?"
"Yes, very cute!" I thought.
"Oh, my dear." she continued
with a gleam of pride In her eyes,
"he's a terror! The other day

NOW that the winter days are
here, the cry after the theatre
is "Lets go where it warm and

Sunday afternoons which are often

there is so much fan in life, still.
Even the stiff old bachelor will be
