The drive will bo imido 68 miles up
the McKenslo to camp at Horse
Creek bridge, between McKenzle
Bridge and Foley Spring. - Here
there will bo a carnpflre, " with
talks and stunts.
Scenery I Hmutiful
The next day, after a breakfast
at 8:15, tho party will start,
promptly at 7, for Horse Pasture
trail. Each person will carry hla
own lunch und tin cup. The trail,
those Interested are informed,
wind through the woods for seven
miles, with a splendid view at vari
ous points. Lunch will be taken at
noon at Saddle, near an excellent
cold-water spring. Resuming the
climb at 1 p. m., tho party will
reach the top of Horse Pasture by
2:30. On the summit.. 6600 feet
high, a magnificent view of the
entire Cascade range and McKen
zle gorge Is laid out before the ob
server. Descent will bo! started at
3:30. along the sumo trail to Sad
dle and a shorter ' trail bock to
camp, via Avenuo creek, Canyon
creek, and Foley Springs. It is
planned to reach' Foley by 6 p. m.
Here half an hour will be allotted
for a swim in the tank or for hot
bath. A two-mile hike back to
camp, then supper. The mem
bers of the parly will have hiked
16 mile during the day.

Sunday, after a 6:30 breakfast.
he party will start In autos at 8
for Lost Luke trail. The cars will
carry the party' 12 mile farther
up the McKenzle hlcrhway to Alder
springs. From there will be made
a one-mile hike to Lost lake, across
Interesting" lava beds. The party is
expected to reach the lake at 11:30,
leaving- at 8 o'clock. The start
home in the autos will be made
irom Alder springs half an hour
later.' Supper will be eaten at the
"big bend" at 6:30 and at 7 o'clock
tho start for Eugene will be made,
with the expectation of reaching
Eugene at 9:30. . ' - ;

sleep out on tho ground." Canvas
to protect bedding from ground or
to cover sleeper In caso of rain.
