While fixing his motorcycle and sidecar at the Smlth- McKern shop yesterday, captain Mc- Clure, who Is on his way to Fort Ben nlng, Gil, to act as an Instructor In- the school of Infantry, told of a lit tle experience he had In the Siskiyou mountains in Southern Oregon when his machine bumped into a lazy cow and he was.-hurled, down. .a SO-foot,. embankment. Captain McCIure was bruised up considerably and pinioned" under the motorcycle until released by a man who happened along, but the experience did not shake his be lief that the only way to tour Is alono and on a motorcycle. With eight week's time Captain McCIure expects to reach his destination in Georgia, but since he is now on leave of ab sence of three months duration he explained that he was In no partic ular hurry.
