Goat Enjoys Scenery
A large billygoat, enjoying the Ore
gon scenery after forsaking his na
tive haunts in California, was a visit
or in Eugene this morning, occupying
half of the back of a California tour
ist's Ford truck. The animal, while a
bit cramped by a trunk, a suitcase, a
chair and other pieces of baggage, was
nevertheless peacefully nodding in the
sun at his parking place near the
Terminal hotel, llo is proud possessor
of horns a foot and a half long and a
flourishing goatee.
Mill Inilalls Planer
A new "060" high speed planer
which runs 400 feet of lumber per
minute is being installed today at the
JameBtown, Oregon, lumber company,
according to E. L. Knapp, representa
tive of the company, who arrived in
Eugene yesterday from Gleubrook.
The new planer is a Fay-Egan mak'i
from Cincinnati, Ohio, and is being in
stalled in addition to the two others
already in operation.
Former Resident Here
Y. D. Hensill, former resident of
this city, is a visitor here on his way
to California from New York. Mr.
Hensill is a former member of the
Eugene city council and was engaged
in the architectural profession here
before going to California where ho
is now manager of a fruit packing
concern.
Hat Left In Court
A woman juror, witness or spec
tator left the circuit court room at
the courthouse Monday without tak
ing her hat, according to J. H. far
row, court bailiff. Mr. Harrow says
that umbrellas by the score, rubbers,
and even men's overconts are found,
but this is the first time a woman
has forgotten her hat.

When the holdup that forced A. C.
Dickinson, night clerk at the Griggs
