Program Completed
Eugene's delegation of Elks to the
sixty-first annual session of the grand
ledge in Portlnnd July 13-18 will be
well entertained, according to word
received here today. Formal sessions
will be held In the Portland auditor
ium, July 13.

cluding the famed Columbia -Hiver

annual convention of Oregon Chriw
tian churches which opens Saturday
at the tabernacle nt Turner. Ir. and
Mrs. E. V. Stivers nro planning to
leave Saturday morning and other
groups will leave before that time in
order to pitch their tents and have
everything in readiness for the meet
ings. More than 4000 persons will atend
the various meetings, it is estimated,
by the committee in charge. The pro- j
gram, which will last nine days, has ;
been divided into different classes of ;
religious instruction with several
loaders of national note in charge.
John L. Itrnndt of Oklahoma is to
be the chief speaker nt the convention.
He is a minister of national repute.
Inspection of 200 acres of barley
fur certified seed was carried on in
Iine county yesterday by Professor
E, N. Hressinan, associate professor
of form crops at Oregon Agricultural
college, and O, S. Fletcher, county ag
ricultural agent.
Professor Hressman found all of
the fields pure as to variety, reports
Mr. Fletcher. ,but because ull have
some vetch and oats adinixtured, (his
will prevent the listing of tho seed as
certified seed.
