thin syrup made with the juice from
the cherries and as mueh more water
as necessary. Adjust tested rubbers,
counting the time after the water ho.

seal and turn upside down to cool.

Medium thin syrup is made by boil
ing three cups of sugar and two cups
of water until the mixture is syrupy,:
about four minutes. This syrup is us'.'d

canned in a syrup made of the same
proportions of sugar and water but 1
the syrup is cooked just long enough!
to dissolve the sugar.
If quart cans are used the fruit
should be processed about -0 min
utes. Sunshine Preserves.
Wash and remove stems from the
fruit. Hemovo pits, saving juice.
Weigh fruit, t'se' three pounds of
sugar to four pounds of fruit. Put
juice in the preserving kettle and add
a thin layer of cherries. Sprinkle with
Migar and continue layer for layer of
vtigar and fruit until ull is used.
Cover the kettle nnd put over a
slow fire, liring slowly to the boiling
half sen! and sterilize for 1l minutsc, j point, removing c ver to prevent boil
ing over. Inerense heat and let bdl
"up" for one mincte.
Pour fruit, and juice onto large
plrtters and place in the sun for 24

with glass or ehocneeloth while in th

Pour into sterilized pint j,:ri or jelly
g'as-scs and cover with para fine when
cold.

Yet if you were to visit the gallery
of skeletons in the American Museum
of Natural History on a summer af
ternoon you would find it the trysting
place of many a maid and mnn.
Undeterred by the spectacle of
ghosts of the past pointing the way
thnt .all flesh must go, thoy sit then
letting time pass swiftly by, saying
little, holding hnnds, looking both ec
static and sick.
Think not thnt these youngsters
find some enchantment in the pres
ence of the great piles of odd bones
It ia to be doubted if thoy know the
difference between a dinosaur nnd a
diptodociis (and who doesV), but they
do know that the cavernous boneyard
is cooler and more comfortable than
any place in Central Pnrk. And each
skeleton affords seclusion from the
casual visitors who visit the place to
study the story that lies in the bleak
exhibits.

Fourteen years ago Mrs. Margaret
Hitter became paralyzed and has been
bedridden in tlio Broadway Lutheran
hospital since then. And each day of
