while others expect to be gone for a

Mies Grace Knopp is to leave Eu
gene about June iH or 10 for New
York where on June 27 she will sail
for Paris with a party of others.
From there they will go to Bpeiu,
stepping at Madrid for a few weeks.
Later a trip will bo taken to southern
Hpain. Mis Knopp plans to return
to Madrid where she will take up ad
vanced work in courses sponsored
by the University of Madrid for for
eigners. She expects to be gone per
haps as late as March or later.

this week was the announcement of
the engagement of Miss Helen M.
Humphrey nnd J. William Albig. The
announcement was made at a dinner
parry given Sunday evening at the
Osburu hotel fur n few friends of the
couple. A huge bompiet of red rose
buds centered the table and at each
plate was a small gift book bound in
red leutber with the names of the
couple on the first fly leaf and the
formal announcement written on the
second leaf. Miss Humphrey grad
uated at mid-year from the Univer
sity of Oregon and is now taking
graduate work on the campus. She
formerly attended Oregon Agricultur
al college and la a member of Sigma
Kappa. Mr. Albig is at present an
instructor in the school of sociology
at the university. Last year be taught
at the University of Washington. He
is a graduate of Gettysburg college
at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and is
n member of Druids and Alpha Kappa
Delta.

Of much interest to many, partic
ularly the campus folk, was the an
nouncement of the engngement of
Miss Lillian W. Raker and Donald L.
Woodward, on Friday evening last.
The announcement was made just
preceding the banquet of the Kmer
ntd staff, the student daily, of which
Mr. Woodward is the retiring editor,
and Miss Baker a member. An extra
edition of the Emerald was distribu
ted to the guests with a story telling
of the betrothal. Miss Baker is grad
uating from the university this June.
She formerly attended the University
of Washington. She is a member of
Delta Delta Delta. Mr. Woodward is
also n senior in the university and
a member of Theta Chi, and the
honorary societies of Sigma Delta
Chi nnd Frinrs. He plans to attend
Columbia university the coming year.

girls. The nffair wns one of the lar
ger functions of the week and in

gene patronesses of the sorority.
Miss Lois Kverson playing at the
piano gave several selections, and
accompunied Miss Augusta Hamilton,
vocalist, as a musical program for
the nffair.
