That the "automobile tramp" is
fait becoming a problem in Oregon
utd that steps should be taken 'to
arb tli is invasion, is the opinion
reached at the meeting of county
judges held at Portland and a com
mittee has been named to draft reso
lutions for all county courts of the
rtate, according to a report of session
received by the Lane county court.
Judge C. P. Barnard of Lane coun
ty was invited to attend the meeting
bat was unable to be present at this
tune as be is out of the city for two
eeka.
The abolition of all free auto camps
an ndvocnted at the meeting and
tiiis plan will bo urged on the county
courts, it is announced. Although the
problem o! the "automobile tramp"
is not so prevalent in Lane county as
some other communities of the
itate there is expected to be some
regulation 'taken here in accord with
the recommendations of the county
tfficials nt the Portland meeting, ac
cording to the Lane county court.
H was the sense of the meeting
that the free auto camp, established
primarily as a matter of Civic pride
for the touring motorist, has degen
erated into a social canker that in
fects the health, morals and society
of a community.
The committee will also recom
mend a "confidential exchange" for
the relayinz of information regard
ing families traveling by motor from
ne city to another, and will make
leneral recommendations for the reg-
-wnon of all automobile Darks and
camps.
