PRISONERS ESCAPE

morning, officers believe the delivery
to have been an outside job. Those

year on a statutory conviction; James

Abolishment of "speed traps" o
state highways is one of the 235 laws
comprising the work of the bant legis
lature, that will go into effect at '
midnight Thursday night, it is an
nounced today. Cnder provisions of
this law it will be a breach of stat
utes for traffic officers to lie in am
bush nnd arrest a, motorist for some
slight infraction.
Contrary to reports, the new law
providing for the use of standard
lights on motor vehicles does not be
effective May UHt Eugene traffic
officers naNcrt. This law goes into ef
fect September 1, nt which time the
serretary of state will annouude of
ficial testing stations.

Agricultural college boards of regents
will be g.ven a chance to bury the
hatchet nnd settle their curricula tiis
putes before the next conference of
the board f higher curricula June 5.
This, in effect, is the announce
the arbitration board, who states the
conference will be private. The board,
he declared, would give thorough con
sideration to the issues involved in
tho controversy, adding that there
was no necessity for a decision until
late this ftummer, if the decision re
quired that length of time.
Representatives of both institutions
are already working together toward
a harmonious solution of the problems
contained in the 50-page brief of the
university and the 212-page brief of
the college it is understood.
The best of feeling prevails be
tween regents, faculty, alumni nnd
students of the two institutions. Mrs.
G. T. Gerlinger, member of the uni
versity board of regents, declared.
"We are certain that a solution can
be found to our common prohlems,"
she said. ''However, I do not believe
the proposal to unite the two institu
tions under one head, or with two
heads, and a super board of paid or
unpaid people in charge, would work
successfully for obvious reasons."
