Bridge Ready Soon

is now being put on, announced Harry
E. Devereaux, city engineer, nd the
bridge is expected to be ready in a
couple of weeks. The work is going
ahead rapidly, he soya, nnd the bridge
will be substantial and capable of
handling all traffic on this steret.
Work is progressing on the bridge
over Hilyard street, and it will aeon
be ready for the finishing touches, tt
is said. All piles have been driven,
and structure work is now going on.
The bridge will be ready in three
weeks, or a month, the contractors.

J. L. Thornton, driver of a Red
Cab which collided with a car driven
by Marion W. Pike, of Bend, yes
terday morning at Fourth avenue and
Lawrence street, was fined $10 and
costs on a charge of reckless driving

I leged that the driver was going too

Thornton declared that he was
speeding due to the fact that he was
carrying a small boy to the hospital
who had been injured. The boy's
face was bloody, and he appeared to
be rather badly hurt, TJiornton said,
and he thought that the emergency
justified the fast driving. He sounded

ing to the corner where lie struck
Pike's car.
Both cars were badly damaged In
the affair.

during the past few days, although
several minor crashes occured. Only
