Project System Used
The project system is being used in
the seventh grade geography class.
The students are taking up the study
o Asiatic countries and each group,
consisting of about five pupils, gives
a report on one cation, A large map
is made of each country and on this
all the occupations, industries and
products are represented. China and
Japan have been studied and certain
members of the class have dressed up
as Chinese and Japanese. Foreign
students from the university have
been over to give talks on thvir liome
lands. Several slides have also been
given.
Girls Make Baskets
At the Girl Reserve meeting held

Architectural Plans Completed
Architectural plans are being com
pleted by. Lynn Crouch, advanced stu
dent . in architecture, for a duplex
apartment" to be' constructed on Olive
between Thirteenth and Fourteenth
streets.

tions, first -and second floors and

Eighteen Essays Entered
Eighteen essays have been entered
in the Lane County Historical Essay
contest by the students of Eugene
High school, and a great deal of. in
terest in the contest has been dis
played. All essays were' turned in to E. J.
Moore, Lane county superintendent.
Athletic Field Improved
The city street commission graded
and leveled the athletic field on
South Willamette street last Tuesday
so that it might be temporarily used
for" athletic practices. ISome time ago
the field was taken from the school
to be made into city lots, which left
the school teams without a proper
place for practice. The field has been
partially filled in so that it was nec
essary that it be leveled.
Look-out House Completed
The model look-out house which
was completed by the building trades
department for Nelson F. Macduff,
supervisor of the Cascade National
Forest Reserve,, is just one-fourth
the actual sixe of a look-out house
used for forestry purposes.
