T. Hodge, of the geology department,

study of local history in the various
school districts of Oregon.

will try the crude oil method on this
road and it is expected that it will

Pioneer of Lane
Dies at Deadwood
Funeral services were held on April
17, at the Deadwood Presbyterian
church for Mrs. Matilda Acbeaun, a
pioneer of western Lane county, who
died at her Lome on April 15.
Hhe was 77 years of age and a
staunch member of the Presbyterian
church nearly all her life.
Mrs, Acheson was born near Drun
quia, In Ireland, and with her family
emigrated to Oregon In lftOO, and set
tled in the western pore of laine, en
during many of the hardships of those
dtiya.
Hhe had been In failing health for
the past year.
Itesidea her husband, Charles Ache
son, she is survived by the following
children: Mrs. K. Tayior, Joneph,
Andrew J., and George K. Acheson,
all of Swisshome; Mrs. II. J. Downing
of HI fir hly, who were at her hcdmdc
when the end came, and Mrs. t'red J.
Wei la of Kerry. She Is also survived
by a brother, Iavid Hunter, of Swiss
home. Interment was made in the Dead-,
wood cemeterj. j
