PORTLAND, Ore., April 20. Au
tomobile accident fatalities in Oregon
and southwestern Washington totaled
five over the week-end.
Mrs. George M. Swineheart, SS, of
Hlack Butte, Oregon, was killed at
Cottage Grove this morning when a
car driven by C. II. Busse of Cottage
Grove swerved to avoid hitting a
truck.
John Morris, nine, was killed at
Marahfield last night, when thrown
from a bike under the wheela of an
automobile. The accident was attri
buted to poor vision on account of
a driving rain.
Mrs. Eliaa Goldstein waa killed in
Portland yesterday in a traffic acci
dent. George h. Wilhrow. Tortland, was
killed lote Saturday, when an auto
mobile left a road near Urightwood,
Ore.

was elected president of the home
economics club. Miss Miller is a
junior iu home economics and a mem
ber of Delta Zeta sorority.
Although the Portland Beavers are
coming home for their opeuing clash
of the baseball season with a rather
poor record there is still some early
season enthusiasm in the success of
the team and some Eugeneans have
hopes that Oregon may yet make a
showing. A large number from this
city arc planulng to attend the first
home game at Portland tomorrow,
some having nlready left for the
north. If weather conditions arc good
tomorrow it ia expected that a large
number of the faithful followers of
the fortunes of the Beavers will drive
to Portland for the afternoon clash.
