Miss Straughan and
Dr. R. C. Clark
Are Engaged ;
At a tea given Sunday evening by
Mrs. E. h. Packard at her home, Miss
Marguerite Straughan announced her
engagement to Dr. R. C. Clark of
the Uoiversity of Oregon... A number
of alumnae and seniors of Alpha
Delta Pi sorority, of which .Miss
Straughan is a member were bidden
to the affair.
The news was toid In a very novel
and interesting manner. The hostess
had used a color scheme of yellow
and white, with daffodils and candles.
A dolt dressed as a bride centered the
tea table and kept the guests won
dering until Dorothy Straughan, sis
ter of the bride-elect, served small
yellow cakes made like miniature
caps and which, when opened, re
vealed the names of Miss Straughan
and Mr. Clark written on a card tied
with yellow ribbons.
Miss Straughan's home is in
Pendleton. She is a graduate of the
University of Oregon where she is a
member of Alpha Delta Pi and Phi
Beta Kappa. Dr. Clark is the head
of the department of history at the j
University of Oregon. The wedding;
has been announced as an event of
June, following which the counlo will
go to London for a stay of six months
or so.

ing," admitted Miss Adelman. "But
underneath the thrill we feel a keen
responsibility. We believe that if
we succeed with our jobs, as we have
every intention of doing, we will make
it easier for all women who want to
answer the call of the sea." ,

thur is enthusiastic about the move.

they can stand the gaff they will get
